Something New

Vereen Gardens in Little River, SC January 2023

Finding a unique shell like the zebra turkey wing was a great surprise! It is a nice addition to my collection. While these are shells local to the beaches of North and South Carolina, it is the first one I’ve ever seen in North Myrtle Beach in over five years of shelling.

If you hadn’t heard about the sea biscuit - a fossilized sea urchin estimated over 30 million years old from the Cretaceous age - let me tell you these are beautiful fossils! Because of the dredging that stirred things up in Holden Beach (1-2 years ago time range, I believe) has led to these beauties being found by the thousands. I will be including these in some way into my beach art and/or offering them as an add on to new orders. Some come as beautiful as the one below, or have a dark or somewhat imperfect look, but to me, they are still amazing just as they are. Some people choose to soak and soak them to remove, but I like the way I find them.
